IT Field Operations Specialist - Philadelphia, PA

Full Time • Washington DC
Job Description:

As an IT Field Operations Specialist with Randstad, you will serve as a critical technical bridge between the central engineering lab in DC and various regional field depots. This role combines high-level endpoint management with hands-on hardware deployment, requiring a technician who is equally comfortable configuring SQL databases and troubleshooting mobile connectivity in a high-mobility environment. You will be the "boots on the ground" responsible for the full lifecycle of Windows-based systems—from imaging and PowerShell automation via Intune/SCCM to the physical installation and maintenance of specialized equipment across multiple transit and logistics hubs.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Lifecycle Management: Lead full Windows OS installations, BIOS/driver updates, and SQL configurations to ensure all systems are optimized and secure.
  • Endpoint Administration: Leverage Microsoft Intune and SCCM to deploy, upgrade, and maintain system health across a distributed enterprise network.
  • Field Engineering: Provide hands-on support at crew bases and onboard mobile units to troubleshoot tablets, peripherals, and cellular/Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Automation & Documentation: Write and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts to streamline deployments and maintain rigorous, up-to-date technical procedure manuals.
  • Hardware Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve complex connectivity issues for Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and specialized mobile peripherals.
  • Physical Operations: Manage the physical transport and installation of hardware, including the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience building and supporting Windows-based systems, with a specific focus on Point-of-Sale (POS) or ruggedized equipment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in system imaging, network troubleshooting (Cellular/Wi-Fi), and SQL Server installation/configuration.
  • Tools: Practical experience with enterprise management tools, specifically SCCM and Intune.
  • Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Scripting: Functional knowledge or 1+ year of experience with PowerShell scripting is a significant advantage.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide clear technical guidance to non-technical crew members and staff.
  • Logistics: Ability to travel as necessary to regional depots (including Philadelphia) and other field locations to provide on-site support.
Compensation: $40.00 per hour
